Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What depth of topper should I buy?

A. Under 12 stone - 5cm
12-13 stone - 6cm
14 stone or more - 7cm

Q. What is the difference between 55kg and 60kg density?

A. The difference is marginal. We include the 2 weights to give you a price choice. lower The 60kg is slightly more suportive. If you are buying for medical reasons such as a stiff back, neck, hip issues or arthritis then the 60kg is probably best. The 55kg offers best value if you simply want a softer mattress. Both feel wonderful and both will do the job they are meant to do brilliantly! Both were highly recommended by Which? magazine

Q. What sort of foam does Rhois supply?

A. Rhois supplies memory foam items made in the UK. The 55kg is made by Carpenter (Carpenter.com) and the 60kg density By British Vita (Vitafoam.co.uk)

Q. How do Rhois items compare with other branded items?

A. There are several branded memory foam products available on the market. We believe that our memory foam is as good as any other available. You could spend hundreds of pounds more on a branded topper and not feel any difference.

Q. How are your items packed?

A. We do not vacuum pack our items, nor do we use compressors to pack them in to the smallest possible package. We do fold toppers but they will revert back to their original shape within 5 minutes at most.

Q. Does memory foam smell?

A. Our toppers are usually sent out within one week of manufacture. This means there is no degradation of the cells which make up the foam (this can happen with items that are vacuum packed or that have been packed for long periods of time). It can however VERY OCCASIONALLY mean that there is a SLIGHT odour. This will fade after a couple of days at most and is in no way harmful and nor is it an irritant. Spray some neutradol or other odour--neutraliser on it for the first few days if needed.

Q. Is it true that memory foam is very hot to sleep on?

A. . A very small percentage of people sometimes report that initially it can seem warm but if they persist their body adapts. Because the cells are open, air circulates freely and will keep the foam cool.

Q. Does the topper need a cover?

A. We sell our toppers without covers but you can buy a cover at the same time for a greatly reduced price. A cover will help to keep your topper clean and help to prevent any "scuffing" damage. WE RECOMMEND A COVER IF YOU ARE GOING TO REGULARLY ROLL THE TOPPER FOR STORAGE. A cover is also advisable if you want to take advantage of our 30 day home trial.

Q. Can toppers be used on sofabeds?

A. Yes

Q. Can toppers be used on their own as a guest bed?

A. Yes, but it is not recommended to use one instead of a bed on a regular basis.

Q. Can a blanket heater be used with memory foam?

A. Yes- just use it as on any other mattress.
